Diary keeping has a few simple rules that make the process of diary keeping easier. First and foremost, refrain from leaving your diary in common area. Even if you prefer to write in your diary on the living room couch, maintaining your privacy and your freedom of expression also means keeping your diary where you are relatively sure it won’t be intruded upon. Leaving your diary out in the open without guard makes it a tempting proposition for others.
If you write in your diary on a daily basis it is easier to keep yourself on track. While some people opt to enter thoughts into their diary when things are not at their peak, using it daily helps keep your thoughts and feelings in perspective. This helps you avoid long winded confusion and the myriad of thoughts that can often accompany those less than peak moments.
Do not share your diary with others unless you want your privacy invaded. Sharing even just one entry in your diary can give someone else the impression that you are perfectly fine with the idea of being open about your diary. Thus, the likelihood that they will peek into your diary during other times increases. We all know that a diary is an avid temptation to those who like to snoop, so don’t send mixed messages. Keep your diary private in order to keep your thoughts, and your entries, very much your own. If you feel a need for sharing, rewrite it or communicate your thoughts verbally.
